Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in red, white, and green
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • 9mm safety eyes
  • Polyester stuffing
  • Yarn needle

Pattern:

Body (Red):

  1. Start with a magic ring and crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring.
  2. Increase in each stitch around (12 sc).
  3. Continue crocheting around in sc, increasing 6 stitches evenly spaced every other round until you have 36 sc.
  4. Place a marker at the start of the round.
  5. Continue crocheting in sc without increasing until the body measures about 3 inches tall.
  6. Start stuffing the body as you crochet.
  7. Decrease by crocheting two sc together at the end of each round.
  8. Continue decreasing until you have only 6 sc remaining.
  9. Stuff the body firmly and close the hole by crocheting the remaining stitches together.

Stem (White):

  1. Attach the white yarn to the bottom of the body.
  2. Make a chain of 6 sc.
  3. Turn and sc in each stitch across.
  4. Chain 2 and turn. Sc in each stitch across, increasing at the beginning of each row.
  5. Continue increasing until the stem is the desired length.
  6. Stuff the stem lightly as you crochet.
  7. Decrease by crocheting two sc together at the end of each round until only 6 sc remaining.
  8. Stuff the stem firmly and close the hole by crocheting the remaining stitches together.

Cap (Green):

  1. Attach the green yarn to the top of the body.
  2. Make a chain of 8 sc.
  3. Turn and sc in each stitch across.
  4. Chain 2 and turn. Sc in each stitch across, increasing at the beginning and end of the row.
  5. Repeat row 4 until you have the desired width for the cap.
  6. Continue crocheting in sc without increasing until the cap reaches the desired height.
  7. Decrease by crocheting two sc together at the end of each round until only 6 sc remaining.
  8. Stuff the cap lightly and close the hole by crocheting the remaining stitches together.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the safety eyes to the face.
