Step by step Pattern

Pot:

  1. Make a magic ring with brown yarn.
  2. Crochet single crochets (sc) into the magic ring, increasing one stitch in each stitch around for a few rounds until you reach the desired width of the pot base.
  3. Continue crocheting in rounds without increasing, crocheting the desired height of the pot.
  4. Stuff the base of the pot lightly with stuffing.
  5. Decrease one stitch in each stitch around for a few rounds to shape the rim of the pot.
  6. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
  7. Pull the tail through the remaining stitches to close the pot.
  8. Sew the tail securely into the pot.

Stem:

  1. Make a chain of stitches with green yarn, long enough for the desired stem length.
  2. Single crochet (sc) back down the chain.
  3. Stuff the chain lightly with stuffing.
  4. Sew the bottom of the stem to the inside of the pot.

Leaves:

  1. Choose a simple leaf shape you like, such as an oval or heart.
  2. Make a chain of stitches with green yarn, slightly longer than the desired leaf width.
  3. Single crochet (sc) back down the chain, increasing one stitch at each end to create the leaf shape.
  4. Continue crocheting rows, increasing or decreasing stitches as needed to maintain the desired leaf shape.
  5. When you reach the desired leaf length, decrease one stitch at each end until you have a few stitches remaining.
  6. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
  7. Pull the tail through the remaining stitches to close the leaf.
  8. Sew the tail securely into the leaf.
  9. Make as many leaves as desired.
  10. Sew the leaves to the stem at different heights.

Flower (optional):

  1. Follow a simple flower amigurumi pattern or freehand a small flower using contrasting color yarn.
  2. Sew the flower to the top of the stem.
  3. Add safety eyes or embroider eyes on the flower (optional).
  4. Embroider a small smile on the flower (optional).

Pull and Grow Mechanism:

  1. Cut a long piece of yarn in a contrasting color.
  2. Tie one end of the yarn securely to the inside of the pot, near the base.
  3. Thread the other end of the yarn through the center of all the leaves.
  4. Tie the end of the yarn to a small object, such as a bead or button.
  5. Pulling on the yarn will cause the leaves to rise up the stem, simulating the plant growth.

Additional Tips:

  • You can adjust the plant size by using different yarn weights or crochet hook sizes.
  • You can use different colors for the pot, stem, leaves, and flowers.
  • Get creative and add other details to your Pull and Grow Plant, such as a face on the pot or a ladybug on the leaves.
