Materials:

    • Small amounts of worsted-weight yarn in your desired rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet)
    • Black worsted-weight yarn for the eyes and mouth
  • Crochet hook: 4.0mm
  • Safety eyes: 9mm
  • Polyester stuffing: For filling the amigurumi
  • Yarn needle: For assembling and embroidery
  • Black embroidery floss: For eyebrows (optional)

Crochet Rainbow Snail Amigurumi

Step by step Pattern

Body:

  1. Start with the light pink yarn and make a magic ring.
  2. Crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring.
  3. Increase in each stitch around (12 sc).
  4. Continue crocheting around in sc, increasing 6 stitches evenly spaced every other round until you have 36 sc.
  5. Place a marker at the start of the round.
  6. Continue crocheting in SC without increasing until the body measures about 2-3 inches tall.
  7. Start stuffing the body as you crochet.
  8. Decrease by crocheting two sc together at the end of each round.
  9. Continue decreasing until you have only 6 sc remaining.
  10. Stuff the body firmly and close the hole by crocheting the remaining stitches together.

Shell:

  1. Join the red yarn to the top of the body.
  2. Make 6 sc in a magic ring.
  3. Increase in each stitch around (12 sc).
  4. Continue crocheting around in sc, increasing 6 stitches evenly spaced every other round until you have 36 sc.
  5. Place a marker at the start of the round.
  6. Change the color to orange and crochet one round without increasing.
  7. Change the color to yellow and crochet one round without increasing.
  8. Continue changing colors and crocheting one round in each color of the rainbow (green, blue, indigo, and violet) without increasing.
  9. Switch back to red and crochet one more round without increasing.
  10. Stuff the shell lightly as you crochet to maintain its shape.
  11. Close the hole by crocheting the remaining stitches together.

Head:

  1. Attach the light pink yarn to the bottom of the body, just below the shell.
  2. Make 6 sc in a magic ring.
  3. Increase in each stitch around (12 sc).
  4. Continue crocheting around in sc, increasing 6 stitches evenly spaced every other round until you have 24 sc.
  5. Place a marker at the start of the round.
  6. Continue crocheting in SC without increasing until the head measures about 1-2 inches tall.
  7. Start stuffing the head as you crochet.
  8. Decrease by crocheting two sc together at the end of each round.
  9. Continue decreasing until you have only 6 sc remaining.
  10. Stuff the head firmly and close the hole by crocheting the remaining stitches together.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the head to the top of the body.
  2. Sew the safety eyes to the face.
  3. Using the black yarn and a yarn needle, embroider a small smiling mouth on the face.
  4. (Optional) Add black embroidery floss eyebrows for a cute expression.
  5. Sew the shell to the back of the body, covering the head slightly.
