Making the Crochet Little Bee Amigurumi

Materials:

  • Yellow and black yarn
  • 3.25mm crochet hook
  • Black safety eyes (6mm)
  • Polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle and black embroidery thread

Steps:

  1. Head and body:

    • Start by making a magic ring with yellow yarn.
    • Work 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring.
    • In the next round, increase in each stitch (12 sc).
    • Continue increasing in every other stitch until you have 30 sc.
    • Crochet without increasing until the piece measures about 7 cm high.
    • Change to black yarn and crochet one round of sc.
    • Stuff the head and body firmly as you crochet the next few rounds.
    • Decrease by crocheting two stitches together at the end of each round until you have 6 stitches left.
    • Close the opening by pulling the yarn through the remaining stitches and tie off.
  2. Wings (make 2):

    • With white yarn, make a magic ring.
    • Crochet 6 sc in the ring and pull tight to close.
    • Chain 3, then sc in the same stitch.
    • Repeat chain-3, sc in the same stitch 5 more times.
    • Finish the round by slipping stitching into the top of the starting chain-3.
    • Change to yellow yarn and repeat step 2.
    • Weave in the ends and sew the wings to the top of the bee's body.
  3. Stinger:

    • With black yarn, chain 6 sc.
    • Stuff lightly and finish off.
    • Sew the stinger to the back of the bee's body.
  4. Face:

    • Sew on the black safety eyes.
    • Using black embroidery thread and a tapestry needle, embroider a small smile under the eyes.

Your little amigurumi bee is complete! You can customize it further by adding stripes to the body, pollen sacs on the legs, or even a tiny flower to hold.

Uses: This adorable crocheted bee is versatile, fitting perfectly as a cheerful ornament in a child's room or nestled among plants to create a touch of whimsy in green spaces.

Materials:

  • Sport yarn
  • 2.75mm Crochet hook

Making: Begin with your yellow yarn and a circle of 30 single crochets! This forms the body of the bee. When the circle is complete, close it with a slip stitch (SL ST) and cut the yarn, tucking those ends in to give it a neat finish. Create two wings using the white yarn. Start each wing with a circle of 24 single crochets. Follow similar steps to the body construction through the 4th round and then execute: increase 4 single crochets, which will give you 8 single crochets. After that, close the wing with 1 slip stitch on the next stitch. Cut the yarn, but leave a long tail to sew the wings to the bee's body. Using the black yarn, follow the pattern to create the bee sting. Close it off with 1 slip stitch (SL ST), and just like before, cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. This tail end will be used to attach the string to the backside of your amigurumi bee.
