Materials:

  • Yarn:
    • Skin-tone color for the body and head (amount depends on the desired size)
    • Orange yarn for the hair (small amount)
    • Black yarn for the eyes and mouth (small amount)
    • White yarn (optional) for the eyes
    • Red yarn (optional) for the parka hood
  • Crochet hook: Size suitable for your yarn weight (e.g., 3.5mm for medium-weight yarn)
  • Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle: For sewing the pieces together
  • Scissors: For cutting yarn
  • Safety eyes (optional): Small size
  • Embroidery needle and thread (optional): For adding details like the mouth

Instructions:

Head:

  1. Start with the magic ring. With skin-tone yarn, make a magic ring and crochet 6 sc into the ring. Pull the magic ring tight to close.
  2. Increase. In the next round, crochet 2 sc in each stitch around (12 sc total).
  3. Continue crocheting in rounds. In the next round, crochet 1 sc in the first stitch, then 2 sc in the next stitch. Repeat this around, crocheting 1 sc in one stitch and 2 sc in the next, until you have completed the round (18 sc total).
  4. Continue increasing. Crochet 1-2 more rounds of 18 sc each.
  5. Shape the head. In the next round, crochet 2 sc in the first 3 stitches, then 1 sc in each of the next 9 stitches, then 2 sc in the last 3 stitches (18 sc total).
  6. Crochet rounds without increasing. Crochet 3-4 rounds of 18 sc each.
  7. Stuff the head. Gently stuff the head with stuffing until it is firm but still soft.
  8. Decrease. Crochet 3-4 rounds, decreasing by 1 stitch each round. To make a decrease, crochet the two stitches together as one sc. (Rounds: 15-14 sc, 13-12 sc)

Hair:

  1. With orange yarn, crochet a chain of stitches slightly longer than the circumference of the head. (Adjust length based on desired hair style)
  2. Single crochet along the chain to create a band of hair. Sew the hair band to the head, covering the top of the head.

Body:

Crochet 3-4 more rounds of 18 sc each.
  5. Shape the body. In the next round, crochet 2 sc in the first 3 stitches, then 1 sc in each of the next 9 stitches, then 2 sc in the last 3 stitches (18 sc total).
  6. Crochet rounds without increasing. Crochet 4-5 rounds of 18 sc each.
  7. Stuff the body. Gently stuff the body with stuffing until it is firm but still soft.
  8. Decrease. Crochet 3-4 rounds, decreasing by 1 stitch each round. To make a decrease, crochet the two stitches together as one sc. (Rounds: 15-14 sc, 13-12 sc)

Arms and Legs:

  1. With skin-tone yarn, chain 10-12 stitches. (Adjust length based on the desired size)
  2. Single crochet all the way down the chain.
  3. Chain 3 and turn.
  4. Single crochet all the way down the chain, decreasing by 1 stitch at each end.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have an arm or leg of the desired length.
  6. Stuff the arms and legs with fiberfill.
