How To Crochet Slip Stitch

Making a crochet slip stitch is delightfully simple. Begin by inserting your crochet hook into the next stitch of your existing work, yarn over. Then, pull the yarn through both the stitch and the loop already on your hook in one smooth motion. That's it! You've just created a slip stitch. This technique is perfect for joining new yarn, closing rounds, or creating a neat, flat seam in your projects. Remember, it's all about practicing to keep your tension consistent for the best results.

Height: The slip stitch is virtually flat with no noticeable height, making it ideal for joining and finishing edges without adding bulk.

Abbreviation: In crochet patterns, the it is commonly called "sl st."

Turning Chain: Unlike other stitches that require a certain number of chains to turn and start a new row (like single or double crochets). The slip stitch typically does not require a turning chain due to its minimal height. If used to move across a piece without adding height. So, you simply turn your work and start slip stitching as directed.
