Published: Feb 18, 2024 · This blog generates income via ads

Treble crochet is the last stitch in our 6 basic crochet stitch list and the taller of all. If you have learned previous stitches, this treble crochet tutorial will only provide directions to you. This stitch produces a more flexible and open fabric for summer items. Due to its height, it can complete a project quickly. So, read through this tutorial or watch the video tutorial below!

Materials List

  • Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn)
  • Yarn (weight suitable for your project)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)

How To Treble Crochet Stitch

To make a Treble Crochet Stitch, you will wrap the yarn around your crochet hook twice. Then, insert the hook through the stitch where you want to place your treble. Wrap the yarn over the hook again and pull it back through the stitch. You'll have four loops on your hook now. Wrap the yarn over again and pull it through the first two loops. Three loops left on the hook! Wrap and pull through the next two loops; now you're down to two. Wrap lastly and pull through both loops on your hook. There you have it, one tr Stitch completed!

Height: Its is notably taller than many other stitches, approximately 4 times the height of a Single Crochet (sc) stitch.

Abbreviation: In patterns, "tr" stands for Treble Crochet.

Turning Chain: To create a row of this Stitch, you start with a Turning Chain of four loops. This height aligns with the stitches to come and forms the edge of your work.
